Not exercising is not an option. I did kettle bells last night [only 1 more session until my guaranteed results!!] Today, I needed some good cardio. Biking to the rescue! I so enjoyed my long ride with Sharon on Thursday that I've decided to explore some more of the great biking trails in this area and expand my repertoire of biking routes.
Today I went the other direction on the Mount Vernon Bike Path, towards Alexandria. Another glorious day. I set off about 2:30 without a distance or time goal in mind. I decided I'd just bike and turn around when I felt like it. The first part of the path is very familiar to me as I usually do my running on that path. The bike took me further, though, and I saw some beautiful neighborhoods and areas of my city that I'd never seen. I ended up riding about 20 miles in two hours. My little toes felt just fine.
I'm still taking encouragement from my physicsdiet.com charts. Losing slowly, but losing. Oh, I was able to finally wear the green dress (size 10P) that I bought at the beginning of September. Here's my chart from Aug 31 to today. [you can click on the chart to enlarge the picture]
What do YOU do when your exercise plan doesn't work out? Do you have a Plan B?

Never have had corns, recall others who have had a hard time with them. I get gout from time to time, so I know what a speedbump foot woes can cause to ones progress. But good for you for not being dlowed and taking those kettles & the bike to task.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome is that being able to get into that dress you bought sometime ago; sounds like some serious awesome to me. Smiling wide at you!
Have a Great week!
My plan B is either the treadmill or the Wii - depending on whether I want to reward myself. :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Mary
Plan B. Hmmm. Boring elliptical or a walk? I'd rather go on a ride with you and Sharon:)
ReplyDeleteThe elliptical which has turned into my plan A, due to my schedule, although I would much rather run in the beautiful sunshine instead!
ReplyDeleteI hope your toes feel better soon!

I try to do some strength exercises-- I bought a medicine ball, and that's been helping out a lot. I would like to come up with some more "Plan B's though!"
ReplyDeleteI usually have to resort to plan B if I don't have anyone to watch the kiddo - so if it's nice, a walk or bike ride with her and if it's not nice, then an exercise DVD after she goes to bed. Any way to get it done!
ReplyDeletehope your toes feel better soon!
Green dress huh? Where's the pic? I have to have lots of plan Bs. That way there's never an excuse.
ReplyDeleteKaren--any time! Just e-mail me.
ReplyDeleteDr F2F--The green dress (in a gray version) is in this post http://incrementalimprovements.blogspot.com/2010/09/odds-and-ends.html
It's a dark, blue green, with bits of leaf green and aqua and a black design all through it.
Tish, you make me laugh every time you say 'only _____ more sessions until my guaranteed results.'
ReplyDeleteLately my plan B has been to embrace walking instead of running or trying to run. I am pretty content with it. Have to talk to myself once in a while and tell myself it is okay to NOT run. My back and my knees and my ankle are happier.
That's one thing I love about biking too, is exploring new areas!
ReplyDeleteOuch to the corns! I had one on my baby toe once and it was miserable.
ReplyDeleteYour graph looks awesome....nice job getting in those 10Ps!
I am doing my plan b right now....I am walking because I have a strained muscle in my leg. I am going to add some resistance band stuff this week.
Love this post. I've had some toe issues at times too. Stationary biking is a great no-toe-impact activity (I don't have a real bike!) that I do as a plan B. Also swimming, although getting into my swimwuit remains traumatic even without glanciong in the mirror!
ReplyDeleteOuch! Hope your toes get better! When I had to take time off because of ITB issues, I turned to the spin bike and the elliptical. Not as nearly as fun as running, but it got the job done. And the sooner you allow rehab time (instead of being a dummy like myself and trying to ignore/run through the pain), the sooner you'll be back to running!
